How to Peel a Pineapple

It is almost the end of the pineapple season here. I love pineapples, but I always struggled peeling them, however over the last few weeks I have seen many people peel them on the steet corners (lots of people selling stuff on the streets here). So I thought I share with you how to peel a pineapple china style.

In order to peel a pineapple you need a large very very sharp knive. With this you slice the skin op the pineapple very thinly, so that you just don't have any green left on the pineapple. Once you have done this you can see that all seeds sit in nice diagonal lines (I never realised this until I got here). You then use a kind of tool that looks a bit like a V-shaped or U-shaped chisle, also very sharp. With this you diagonally cut the seeds out of the pineapple, until it looks like the photo here. By doing things this way you will waste very little pineapple and be able to enjoy as much as possible of this magnificent fruit as possible.

Of course if you live in China you just let the lady or gentleman in the fruit shop do this for you, much easier and it costs next to nothing extra.

Enjoy your pineapples.
